The quick way

Do this step by step

Create a new curriculum

  1. Click the Learning tab.
  2. Select Create Curriculum from the drop-down menu.
  3. Type a Title for your curriculum and select a destination from the Folder drop-down menu.
  4. Click Add and select the courses you want to add to the curriculum. Click Apply.
  5. Click Continue.

Define the settings and details of a curriculum

  1. In the Settings section on the Overview tab, configure the following options:
    • Select Days, Weeks or Months from the dropdown, and add a numerical value for Due date.
    • Check the Apply due date to courses box if you wish to apply a due date to courses.
    • Check the Set as a dynamic curriculum box, which means a learner’s status will reset to 'Incomplete', even if that student has previously completed the curriculum.
    • Click the pencil icon to edit the Enrollment settings. Select whether to make your student enrollment Open or Limited. Enable Auto enrollment if you want students to be automatically enrolled into another course or curriculum upon enrollment or completion.
  2. In the Details section on the Overview tab, configure the following options:
    • Set or display the current curriculum Thumbnail image.
    • Update the required Name for the curriculum.
    • Copy the auto-generated Curriculum URL to share the curriculum.
    • Use the drop-down menus to select the storage Folder and assign a Topic category to the curriculum.
    • Write a detailed explanation of the curriculum in Description.
    • The Required duration shows the time needed to complete the required courses, while the Estimated duration reflects total course time.
    • In Learning locker, check the box to Hide prerequisite courses when an exam is in progress. This prevents users from reviewing previous courses during the exam. Prerequisite courses will re-enable when the exam is completed so students can go back and review the previous material

Add, remove, and arrange the courses in a curriculum

  1. Click the Courses tab.
  2. Click Add and select Courses to search for existing courses. Check the box next to the title of the course you want to include and click Apply.
  3. Select a course from the Prerequisite drop-down menu to establish a prescribed viewing order.
  4. Check the box to Hide the title until prerequisites are met to keep future content hidden from students.
  5. Deselect the Mark as required box to make a course optional.

Note: A curriculum must contain at least one required course.

  6. Check the Mark as exam box to make the course a closed-book test.
  7. To add a module to the curriculum, click the Add button and select Module from the drop-down. Enter a Title in the pop-up. To add another module, click add and repeat. When done, click Apply.
  8. Click the 6 dots button to drag and drop courses and modules into your desired organization to set the viewing order.
  9. Click Save to apply your changes

Note: Only courses can be added to a curriculum. You cannot upload standalone files or presentations directly into a curriculum.

Configure the curriculum completion certificate

  1. Click the Certificate tab.
  2. Check the Display certificate box to allow students to access it in their learning locker.
  3. Customize the text in the Certificate Message text box.

Note: Do not edit default parameters surrounded by chevrons (<<__>>), as they will be replaced with live data.

  4. Click the Preview button. A pop-up window appears, and the system automatically generates and downloads your certificate as a PDF file. Locate the downloaded file on your device to view the document.
  5. Check the Email certificate to the user box to have Brainshark automatically email the certificate to the student.
