Set the overview of a course

Configure the fundamental details, settings, and statistics for your learning content on the course overview page. This helps you control how the course appears in the catalog, who can enroll, and how information is presented to your students.

  • Plan: Bigtincan Basic Learning, Bigtincan Basic Readiness, Bigtincan Elite, Bigtincan Essential, Bigtincan Readiness, Bigtincan Standard, or Bigtincan Standard Plus
  • Roles and privileges: Learning Author, Learning Administrator, or Company Administrator

Do this step by step

  1. Click the Learning tab.
  2. Select My Courses & Curriculums from the dropdown.
  3. Click the three dot menu next to your course and select Edit course.
  4. On the Overview tab, review the Statistics section to track the number of students who are Not started, In progress, or Completed.
  5. Use the Settings section to change the course Status to Active or Inactive.

    Note: Setting the status to active makes the course available in the catalog, while setting it to inactive hides it from students. All courses are Inactive by default.

  6. You can set an Expiration date to make the course inactive.
  7. Click the pencil icon next to Enrollment settings to set the enrollment preferences.
  8. Click the Student enrollment drop-down menu, and select Limited to assign specific students manually or select Open to enable company-wide enrollment.
  9. Enable Auto enrollment if you want students to be automatically enrolled into the same or another course or curriculum upon enrollment or completion.
  10. Enable Calendar event invitation, then set date, Start time, End time and send invitation with course URL in calendar event.
  11. Use the Content section to click Preview and view the course before it is available to students.
  12. Scroll to the Details section to update the course Thumbnail, Name, Folder, and Topics.
  13. Type a summary in the Description box and add detailed objectives in the Extended description box.
  14. Enter the number of Credits and the Estimated duration a course should take, in minutes.
  15. Check the box for Copy this course under the Allow authors to section if you want to permit other authors to duplicate your course.
  16. Click Save to apply your changes.
