Customize completion certificates

Present students with branded recognition upon completing their training. Maintain brand consistency by modifying the default certificate message to ensure users have an experience customized to your organization.

As an admin, you can replace the default certificate template with your own PowerPoint design. Custom certificates are dynamically populated with Brainshark data, including guestbook input, presentation information, and viewing data. You may have multiple custom certificates uploaded to your Brainshark site so authors can apply the appropriate certificate to their presentation, course, or curriculum.

Key features

  • Modify the company-wide default certificate text
  • Create custom PowerPoint certificate templates
  • Use data parameters to dynamically populate custom certificates
  • Edit certificate messages for specific courses or curriculums

You need this to succeed

  • Plan: Bigtincan Basic Content, Bigtincan Content, Bigtincan Elite, Bigtincan Essential, Bigtincan Standard, Bigtincan Standard Plus
  • Permissions: Company Administrator

Do this step by step

Edit the company default certificate text

  1. Click your profile icon and then select Administration.
  2. Click Company.
  3. Click Manage Templates, then select Certificate Templates.
  4. Customize the text in the available text boxes for Presentation, Course, and Curriculum certificates.

Note: The parameters inside the double angle brackets (such as <<PresentationTitle>>) will be automatically replaced with live data.

  5. Click Save.

Create a custom certificate template:

  1. Create a PowerPoint slide with your custom branding and wording and add the appropriate Brainshark data parameters from the tables at the bottom of this article. When the certificate is generated, Brainshark dynamically replaces the custom parameters with “live” data.
    • All parameters must be entered exactly as shown in the data parameter reference tables.
    • Adding spaces or underscores within the double angle brackets (<<Viewer_Name>>) and/or removing one or both angle brackets (<ViewerName>>) will cause that information to display on the certificate as entered, rather than being replaced with live data.
    • Only uses supported fonts. The Brainshark system may replace unsupported fonts with different versions or special characters.
  2. Create a certificate for each Brainshark content type (Presentation, Course, and/or Curriculum), and save each one as a separate PowerPoint file with a unique name.
  3. Send the finalized PowerPoint file to support@bigtincan.com and request that the certificates be uploaded to your site. (Include your site’s Company ID or URL and a label for each certificate.)

Once the certificate is added to your site, Brainshark Authors can select the appropriate certificate to use with their content.

Edit the certificate text for a specific course or curriculum:

  1. Navigate to Learning.
  2. Click My Courses & Curriculums.
  3. Click the three horizontal dots icon next to your desired course or curriculum and select Edit Course or Edit Curriculum.
  4. Click the Completion and certificate tab if editing a course, or the Certificate tab if editing a curriculum.
  5. Customize the text inside the Certificate Message box.

Note: The parameters inside the double angle brackets (such as <<PresentationTitle>>) will be automatically replaced with live data.

  6. Click Save.
