Import historical course completions

The course completion import function allows you to bulk-upload completion results from a CSV file instead of manually updating each student's status. This is especially useful for tracking historical training records or external course completions in one centralized location.

You need this to succeed

  • Plan: Bigtincan Basic Content, Bigtincan Content, Bigtincan Elite, Bigtincan Essential, Bigtincan Standard, Bigtincan Standard Plus
  • Permissions: Company Administrator, Learning Administrator, or Learning Author

Do this step by step

Download the import template:

  1. Click the Learning tab.
  2. Select My Courses & Curriculums.
  3. Click the upload icon near the top right of the page.
  4. Click Download Template to save the CSV file to your device.

Import your completion results:

  1. Open the downloaded CSV template.
  2. Enter the required information:

    • CourseID
    • Username
    • DateCompleted

    Note: The DateCompleted must be in MM/DD/YYYY format. The Title and Score fields are optional.

    Tip: We recommend limiting your file to 10,000 rows or fewer.

  3. Save the completed file in a CSV format.
  4. Navigate back to My Courses & Curriculums and click the upload icon.
  5. Click Upload .csv and select your saved file.
  6. You will receive an email notification when the import is complete. Any errors will be in a CSV file attached to the email.

Note:

  • Students who are not already enrolled in the course are automatically enrolled and set to complete immediately.
  • You cannot upload course completion data for presentations, coaching courses, or live course sessions.
