Some PowerPoint functionalities are not supported when uploaded into Brainshark and can lead to conversion failures or additional conversion issues.
The items in the list below frequently prevent PowerPoint files from uploading and converting successfully, or can populate error messages on Brainshark slides. For optimal results to prevent conversion failure we would recommend to remove or correct any of the following:
- File is encrypted.
- File is password protected.
- File is corrupt.
- The file size is too large.
- The file contains slides that are all marked hidden.
- The file contains 3D models. These are not supported.
- The file contains 3D model animation types that are not supported.
- The file contains transitions.
- The file contains embedded audio that is not in MP3 or .WAV Format.
- The slides contain invalid, secured, or broken hyperlinks.
- PowerPoint Comments.
- Ink added during a slideshow recording. These are annotation mark-ups done by presenter when recording in PowerPoint.
PowerPoint also carries additional functionalities that are unsupported in Brainshark and can lead to conversion issues. This means in some cases the functionalities from the following list may operate successfully. In most instances these will not work after being uploaded into Brainshark, and we would be unable to guarantee consistency:
- Unsupported fonts. The Brainshark system may automatically replace unsupported fonts with supported versions. This can distort the goal text size or original positioning.
- Embedded videos in PowerPoint slides.
- Charts and tables that link to external software such as Microsoft Excel. Erroneous copy/pasting from excel into a PowerPoint chart may also cause conversion issues.
- Unsupported animations.
- Animations applied to charts.
- Animations applied to Smart Art (for resolution we recommend to convert these to shapes and animate those subsequently).
- Slide Numbers.
- Page Numbers.
- Recorded audio in PowerPoint. (Typically performs best when recording during a Slideshow).
- SCORM files uploaded as a presentation.
To troubleshoot, please check to see if any of the above conditions apply to your PowerPoint file, make any necessary edits, and re-upload. If your PowerPoint still fails to upload, please contact Support.
