Reset a user password

When a user is locked out or hasn’t received their welcome email, you can generate a new password on their behalf to get them back up and running without delay.

  • Plan: Bigtincan Authoring, Bigtincan Basic Learning, Bigtincan Basic Readiness, Bigtincan Elite, Bigtincan Essential, Bigtincan Readiness, Bigtincan Standard, or Bigtincan Standard Plus
  • Roles and Privileges: Company Administrator

Do this step by step

  1. Click your profile in the top-right corner and select Administration.
  2. Click Users in the left-hand navigation menu.
  3. Select Manage Users from the expanded menu.
  4. Search for the specific user.
  5. Hover over the user, click the three dot menu to the right of their active indicator, and select Profile.
  6. Verify that the email address in the Primary email field is correct.
  7. Choose your preferred reset method:
    • Set and share a password manually:
      1. Leave the Generate new password box unchecked.
      2. In the Password field, enter the new password.
      3. In the Verify Password field, enter the same password again.
      4. To ensure security, select the Change password on next login checkbox.
      5. At the top-right of the page, click Save.
      6. Share the new password with the user through a secure channel.
    • Generate and share a password automatically:
      1. Select the Generate new password checkbox. The Password and Verify Password fields will automatically gray out.
      2. Click Save.
      3. Once saved, Brainshark automatically sends the user an email containing their username and a new, randomly generated password.
      4. The user will be prompted to change their password on their next login.
