Manage locked user accounts

When a user exceeds the maximum number of failed login attempts, their account automatically locks to protect your site. Managing locked accounts allows you to configure which administrators receive automated lockout emails and manually unlock user profiles so employees can regain access.

Do this step by step

Configure lockout email notifications

Notify selected admins each time a user is locked out of their account.

  1. Click your profile and select Administration.
  2. Click Logins and Passwords under the Advanced Options section.
  3. Scroll to the Account lockout options to adjust the lockout duration or maximum attempts if desired.
  4. Locate the Lockout email box and enter the email addresses that should receive notifications, separated by commas.
  5. Click Save.

Unlock a user account

Users do not receive an explicit notification when their account is locked. They will see an incorrect password message when they try to log in again.

  1. Navigate to Administration.
  2. Click Users in the left menu, then select Manage users.
  3. Search for the locked user.
  4. Hover your mouse over the user and click the three dot menu next to the active column.
  5. Select Profile from the drop-down menu.
  6. Scroll to the User properties section and deselect the User account is locked due to excessive login failures checkbox.
  7. Click Save.
