Add audio narration to your slides

Adding voice narration to your slides creates an engaging and comprehensive learning experience for your audience. You can personalize your presentations by recording your own voice, uploading existing audio files, or using AI to generate voiceover audio from your slide notes.

The Quick Way

Do this step by step

Open the presentation editor

  1. To add audio narration to your existing presentations, click Content in the top menu and select My Content.
  2. Search and filter your Presentations to locate the presentation you'd like to edit.
  3. Click the three dot button on the presentation and select Edit.

Upload an audio file

  1. Select the slide you want to add audio to.
  2. Click Narration at the top of the page.
  3. Select Upload narration.
  4. Click Browse to locate your file or drag and drop an MP3, MP4, or MOV file into the box.
  5. Click Upload.

Note: The uploaded audio file size must not exceed 500 MB.


Record your voice directly

  1. Select the slide you want to narrate.
  2. Click Narration at the top of the page.
  3. Select Record narration. If you haven’t connected your microphone yet, allow your browser access to your selected microphone.
    • You can adjust the recording settings by clicking the gear icon. Select the countdown duration, choose your microphone, adjust the input volume, and test it by speaking and watching the level.
  4. Click Record to start the countdown.
    Note: The maximum audio recording time per slide is 20 minutes.
  5. Click Stop recording when you are finished.
  6. Click the play icon to listen to the recording. If you’re not happy with it, click Discard recording and try again.
  7. Click Next slide to save the audio and record narration for the next slide.
  8. To save the audio and move on from narration recording, click Done.

Generate audio from slide notes

  1. Select the slide you want to generate audio for.
  2. In the Slide properties panel on the right side, click the Notes tab.
  3. Enter your script into the text box and click Save.
  4. Click Generate narration above the notes field.
  5. Select a Voice library.
  6. Select a language and choose your preferred AI voice from the library. To hear a sample, click the play icon.
  7. If you'd like to ensure specific words and terms are pronounced as your organization prefers, check the Pronunciation dictionary box. 
  8. Click Generate and save.
  9. Click the play icon to listen to the narration.
  10. To change the AI voice, click the three dot menu at the end of the waveform and select Regenerate narration.

Tip: You can generate audio for all available slides at once by clicking Narration at the top of the page and selecting Generate narration.


Generate audio for all slides with notes

  1. For each slide you want to generate narration for, do the following:
    1. In the Slide properties panel on the right side, click the Notes tab.
    2. Enter your script into the text box and click Save.
  2. Click Narration at the top of the page and select Generate narration.
  3. Ensure all the slides that you'd like to generate narration for are selected, and then click Generate and save.

Send guest narration requests

You can request someone else to record audio on your slides.

  1. Click Narration at the top of the page and select Request narration.
  2. Enter or select the recipient's email address, modify the subject and message if desired, and check Require recipient to sign in only if they have a Brainshark account in your company.
  3. If you want a copy of the email, select Send me a copy of this email.
  4. The recipient will receive an email with a link to record audio, and you retain full control of the presentation until they mark the request complete.

Note: Only one guest narration request can be active at a time per presentation. If you send a new request, the previous request becomes invalid. Once the guest marks the request as complete, the audio cannot be modified using that link, and you must send a new request if further changes are needed.
