Unable to View a File

In some cases, when you try to view a file, you may see a screen that displays an error.

If you open a file and see the following screen, it means that the file type is not currently compatible to be displayed in Android.

Android_FAQ_UnsupportedFileType_01.png

This screen indicates that the file itself is not designed to be viewed on a mobile device.

For example, the following file types will not display in Android:

  • .ai (Adobe Illustrator)
  • .psd (Adobe Photoshop)
  • .eps (Encapsulated Postscript)
  • .doc, .xls, .ppt (Microsoft Office files)

To view this type of file on your device, tap the Share icon (highlighted in the image above) and then tap "Open In" option to open the file in the corresponding app on your device or a computer with the appropriate software, as needed.

Note

If this is a zipped HTML 5 file, please make sure that the contents within the folder were zipped up and not the folder itself. Please see the instructions here.
