How to Change your Email App

The imSMART application will work with most Email Apps that are available for Android.

  • Generally speaking, we recommend that you use the native email client on your device.
  • However, you can also use Apps like Outlook, Gmail, etc.

Note 
If you are using a company-managed Android device, you may not be able to change the default email app on the device.

To change the default email app on your Android device, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Home > Settings.
  2. Tap on Apps.
  3. Scroll down to find the app that you want to set as the default, then tap on it.
  4. Scroll down to the "Set as Default" option, then tap on that.

 

Or, you can set it this way:

  1. Go to Home > Settings.
  2. Tap on Apps.
  3. Tap on the Ellipsis (More) > Default apps > Set as default.
  4. Select the app that you want to use as the default.

Alternate Approach

Sometimes, the "Set as Default" option will be greyed out, which means you will need to remove the current default app first, then follow the steps above to set a new default.

To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Home > Settings.
  2. Tap on Apps.
  3. Tap the app that you no longer want to be the default. 
    • If you don't see it, tap on the All option at the top of the list of apps.
  4. Or, you can tap on the Ellipsis (More) icon AdvancedDefault apps  > Set as default.
    • If you don't see "Advanced," tap Open by default > Clear defaults.

Then follow the steps outlined at the top of this screen.
