A: Using too many images or images that are very large can cause the content to either slow down or crash completely. Use HTML and CSS where possible.
iPad has great support for most of the CSS3 properties such as gradients and shadows. Make sure images are optimized as much as possible and if many small images are needed try combining them to see if that improves rendering. Always test on an iPad to make sure the rendering is performing as desired.
