How to embed sound files into a PowerPoint presentation

In order to embed an audio file in PowerPoint, it must be either a .wav or .mp3 file.

(Only one audio file per slide can be embedded/uploaded. If multiple .wav files exist on one PPT slide, only one will come through into the BSK presentation)

To embed .wav files into your slide within PowerPoint:

  • Click on Insert
  • Click on Audio
  • Click on Audio on My PC.

Only embedded files will be uploaded to Brainshark.

To confirm that your .wav file was embedded, right click on the audio icon in PowerPoint and select, 'Edit Sound Object'. If you see a path next to 'File:' , that indicates your audio file is linked, not embedded. What you should see next to 'File:' is, '[Contained in presentation]'. There is a default setting within PowerPoint which you can force all .wav files to be embedded.

To change this default setting in PowerPoint:

  • Go to Tools | Options.
  • Click on the 'General' tab.
  • Change the size, "Link sounds with file size greater than" and change size to 50000kb.Click 'OK'.

Re-insert your file into the PowerPoint presentation. Your wav/mp3 files will now become embedded. Save your presentation and then upload it.  You may want to drag the speaker icon off the PowerPoint slide image prior to uploading or the speaker icon will appear in your Brainshark presentation.
